What group will Ukraine be in at EURO 2024?

Ukraine have been drawn in Group E alongside Romania, Slovakia and Belgium.

Ukraine's Group E fixtures

vs Slovakia (Düsseldorf, 21 June, 15:00)
vs Belgium (Stuttgart, 26 June, 18:00)

Who is Ukraine coach?

Serhiy Rebrov and Andriy Shevchenko started out as strike partners at Dynamo Kyiv, and are once more working in tandem; Rebrov is national team coach while Shevchenko is in charge of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF). The Ukrainian Premier League's all-time top scorer with 123 goals, Rebrov has coached Dynamo, Ferencváros and UAE side Al-Ain to domestic titles.

Ukraine key player: Illia Zabarnyi

It may seem unusual to highlight a central defender in a team featuring La Liga's top scorer Artem Dovbyk and a slew of other talented attackers, but 21-year-old Zabarnyi anchors the side with his excellent anticipation and precise passing. Having gained Champions League experience at Dynamo Kyiv, he has enjoyed an outstanding 2023/24 in England with Bournemouth.

Ukraine one to watch: Volodymyr Brazhko

Not as well known as fellow youngsters Zabarnyi, Georgiy Sudakov and Mykhailo Mudryk, 22-year-old Brazhko has huge potential. The defensive midfielder reached double figures for goals and assists in the Ukrainian league with Dynamo Kyiv, and he proved his worth to the national team in the play-offs. Many expect the Under-21 captain to cement a starting place in Germany.

How did Ukraine qualify for EURO 2024?

Third in Group C
Play-off semi-final: Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-2 Ukraine
Play-off final: Ukraine 2-1 Iceland

Rebrov's team came up just short in their bid to oust holders Italy and finish runners-up to England in Group C. But they got the job done in the play-offs, coming from behind to beat Bosnia and Herzegovina and then Iceland to secure qualification for their fourth EURO in a row.
