Who should be my EURO 2024 Fantasy Football captain for the quarter-finals?
THURSDAY JUL 04,2024
Nico Williams, Jules Koundé, Judy Bellingham and Cody Gakpo are four of the leading contenders for the Fantasy captaincy on Matchday 5.
With eight teams remaining at UEFA EURO 2024, managers on EURO Fantasy, presented by Visit Qatar, will already be considering potential captains ahead of the quarter-finals.
UEFA.com provides an option from each of the four fixtures on Matchday 5.
FRIDAY 5 JULY
Nico Williams (€7.0m) vs Germany
Although Williams neither scored nor provided an assist in the group stage, his general displays were enough to earn him a place in a healthy number of Fantasy squads. That faith was repaid in the round of 16, the 21-year-old both scoring and assisting in Spain's 4-1 victory over Georgia. Williams now features in 20% of all Fantasy squads, and after such an electric performance, there will be a temptation to captain him when La Roja take on hosts Germany in the opening quarter-final.
Jules Koundé (€5.0m) vs Portugal
With France having conceded just once across the whole tournament, there is a strong argument to be made for captaining one of their back line on Matchday 5. Of all the defenders remaining at EURO 2024, none have scored more Fantasy points than Koundé's total of 30. The round of 16 win against Belgium resulted in the versatile defender's highest individual score, his clean sheet and seven ball recoveries earning him the Player of the Match award and 11 points.

SATURDAY 6 JULY
Jude Bellingham (€9.5m) vs Switzerland
The fact that England are still involved has a lot to do with the heroics of Bellingham, whose last-minute bicycle kick against Slovakia in the round of 16 acted as the catalyst for their turnaround. That was the 21-year-old's second goal of the tournament, his first coming on Matchday 1 against Serbia. Having also earned two Player of the Match awards, Bellingham is the third highest points scorer among midfielders involved in the quarter-finals.
Cody Gakpo (€7.5m) vs Türkiye
Among the last eight, Gakpo is 11 clear of the next forward in terms of Fantasy points over the course of the tournament, the Netherlands man recording his second double-figure return against Romania in the last 16. Having scored three goals – one from outside the box – Gakpo is the joint-top scorer at EURO 2024, and also has an assist and two Player of the Match awards. The Dutch now take on Türkiye, who have conceded most goals among the quarter-finalists.
